Just like the rest of you we have had our eyes firmly glued to the screen this past week, excitedly watching some of Australia's top Fashion Designers debut at the Afterpay Fashion Week with their new Spring and Summer trends that will set the pace for the warm seasons of 2022/23.

Some of the biggest fashion trends that were shown this year included bright neons and neutral tones, exaggerated draping and volume, theatrical gowns, cutouts, sheerness, colourful silks, re-imagined suits and oversized outerwear, asymmetrical shapes, low rise, punk-inspired sequins, lace and metallics, not only seen on the runways but also in the crowded street style that flocked to Sydney.

In footwear fashion platform shoes were still very popular, seen quite prominently in the Sass and Bide show. The shoes were a statement in every look, seen in bright contrasting colours and then metallic gold and silver. Then there were dramatic heels and masculine boots paired with soft elegant dresses or set against oversized tailored suits.

We also need to mention how much we loved seeing the inclusive diverse nature of the shows this year, models ranging in size, ethnicity, gender and ability graced the catwalks. It was refreshing to see, and gives so much to look forward to in future fashion shows. So brilliant for the next generation to look up to which makes way for people with more self love, confidence and less body shaming.

Exciting times ahead, we are looking forward to seeing what Melbourne Fashion Week has in store for us later this year.
